Southampton Blotter: Driver strikes utility pole, charged with DWI

Southampton Town police arrested a Riverhead man for driving while intoxicated in Hampton Bays Saturday evening.

According to a police report, an officer responded to a report of a vehicle that struck a utility pole near Bay Woods Drive and Squiretown Road around 6:28 p.m.

An officer noted that Amilcar Rodriguez-Calix, 41, displayed signs of intoxication and he was subsequently charged with DWI.

The extent of his injuries was not clear, but police said he was held overnight and arraigned Sunday morning.

• Marvin Chocon Punay, 25, of Riverhead was arrested and charged with DWI following a traffic stop on Flanders Road Saturday at approximately 3:50 a.m., police said.

A chemical breath test obtained with consent revealed Mr. Chocon Punay had a blood alcohol content of .12%, according to a police report.

Southampton Blotter: Flanders man charged with felony DWI

Southampton Town police arrested a Flanders man on felony DWI charges after he allegedly ran three stop signs on Oak Avenue in Flanders early Friday morning.

According to officials, Christopher Vaca, 30, was stopped around 5:27 a.m. and found to be intoxicated. He told a police officer, “I’m drunk. Just arrest me for the DWI already,” according to a police report.

Police said Mr. Vaca has had a previous DWI conviction in the past 10 years and was also found to be driving without a court-ordered interlock device.

He was charged with circumventing a court-ordered interlock device, a misdemeanor, and two felony charges of first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and driving while intoxicated.

• Pablo Cortez, 31, of Flanders was arrested for driving with a suspended license in Hampton Bays Friday.

Police said he was stopped on Springville Road for driving with a cracked windshield around midnight when a DMV check revealed his license had been suspended.

Mr. Cortez was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, as well as two violations, officials said.

• Police responded to a Flanders Road residence last Thursday morning after a man reported a possible burglary.

A 61-year-old Flanders man said that when he left his father’s residence the night before, he locked all of the doors but returned the next morning around 9 a.m. to find the back basement door had been broken into.

It’s unclear if anything was stolen from the residence, but police said an investigation is ongoing.

• David Stetler, 31, of East Marion was arrested for driving with a revoked license in Speonk last Wednesday afternoon.

Police said he was stopped for speeding on North Phillips Avenue and further investigation revealed his license had been revoked and his vehicle appeared to be unregistered.

He was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, reports said.

• Southampton police arrested Henry Perez-Guevara, 23, of Flanders around 7:46 p.m. last Tuesday and charged him with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated and a violation for leaving the scene of an accident.

Police did not provide any additional information in a report.

Southampton Blotter: Driver with suspended license arrested

Southampton Town police arrested Jhesica Pimentel-Mena, 27, of Riverhead for driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop on Flanders Road last Thursday around 11:47 p.m.

Police said she was driving a 2007 Mazda and was pulled over after coming to an abrupt stop in the lane of travel without signaling.

Further investigation revealed her license had been suspended twice for failure to answer a summons in Riverhead Town Justice Court.

She was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, and a vehicle and traffic violation, reports said.

• A Flanders man called police last Thursday to report that an unknown person rummaged through his Ford pickup truck overnight and stole approximately $20 in loose change.

• Police responded to a Laurel Avenue home last Tuesday morning after a homeowner reported that their house had been hit with pink paintballs overnight. Police told the homeowner to report any further suspicious activity and also advised that it might be beneficial to install video surveillance at the residence.

• Ferrer Lozano, 31, of Riverhead was arrested and charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle following a traffic stop near Firehouse Lane in Flanders last Tuesday around 1:23 p.m.

Southampton Blotter: Hampton Bays man with prior DWI conviction arrested

Julio Xajapsinai, 23, of Hampton Bays was arrested last Wednesday around 2:18 a.m. for driving while intoxicated, according to Southampton Town police.

Mr. Xajapsinai, who has a prior conviction in the last 10 years, was arrested on a host of charges, including operating a motor vehicle without financial security, a valid license, a valid inspection certificate or valid registration.

Police observed him driving on Old Quogue Road in Riverside and when he was stopped for a traffic violation, he allegedly put his vehicle in reverse. He also admitted to police that he drank four beers.

He was also charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a felony. Police found his vehicle had a number of safety issues, including unsafe tires and license plate violations.

• Joshua James Dupree, 42, of Riverhead was arrested last Monday around 11:38 a.m. for seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Mr. Dupree allegedly tried to discard a tissue on the ground while officers were interviewing him. Officers determined that a quantity of crack cocaine was located inside the tissue and they arrested Mr. Dupree near Galilee Church of God in Christ on Old Quogue Road in Riverside.

• Angeliqua Molina, 32, of East Hampton was arrested last Tuesday around 11:33 p.m. for third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor. Police determined when they pulled Ms. Molina over near Flanders Road and Cross River Drive in Riverside that her license had been suspended in August for administrative action.

She was released with a traffic ticket.

• Angelina Passantino, 27, of Wading River was arrested last Wednesday around 10:30 p.m. for third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Police said they observed Ms. Passantino driving 58 mph in a 35 mph zone near Southampton Elks Lodge in Tuckahoe and later determined that her license had been suspended in February for failure to answer a summons. She was released with a traffic ticket.

• Daquan James Robinson, 25, of Wading River was arrested near the Suffolk County Center in Riverside last Thursday around 2:14 p.m. for second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor. Police said Mr. Robinson had been involved in a motor vehicle accident. When they checked his record, they determined that his license had been suspended, with a total of 34 suspensions on seven different dates.

• A Riverside man reported last Thursday around 6:24 p.m. near Flanders Road that someone stole a gray iPhone 6, valued at $175, and $800 in cash from his unlocked vehicle. An investigation is ongoing, according to police.

Southampton Blotter: Two men caught with stolen tools during traffic stop

Southampton Town police arrested two men on grand larceny charges during a traffic stop in Riverside Sunday.

Ludwin Perez, 21, of Northampton was driving near Old Quogue Road in Riverside when he was stopped for a traffic infraction and found to be driving without a valid license.

He was charged with misdemeanor third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, according to a police report.

Further investigation revealed that he and his passenger, Marvin Cojon-Petet, 24, were in possession of tools, including a nail gun, that had been reported stolen recently, a detective said.

Both men were charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and fourth-degree grand larceny, both felonies.

• Edvin Lopez, 23, of Flanders was arrested for driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop near Ponquogue Avenue in Hampton Bays Friday around 6:24 p.m. He was charged with misdemeanor third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and released on an appearance ticket, according to a police report.

• Police arrested a 29-year-old Flanders man for driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle crash last Thursday evening.

According to police, Chamale Guillermo was involved in two-car crash on Flanders Road around 10:51 p.m. He told the responding officer that he had four Coronas, which were observed empty in the back seat, police said.

He was charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated and several violations, according to officials.

• A Manhattan man was arrested for driving with a suspended license in Flanders early last Tuesday morning.

Police said Michael Davis, 56, was stopped for a vehicle and traffic offense near Bay Avenue in Flanders around 4:06 a.m. when an officer discovered his license had been suspended eight times.

He was charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, police said.

Southampton Blotter: Chevy van reported stolen in Riverside

A Holbrook man told police Nov. 18 that someone stole his 1987 Chevy van from the parking lot of the abandoned Getty gas station on the Riverside traffic circle, according to Southampton Town police. The van was valued at $3,500, police said.

The van had been left at that location for about six months, and its owner said he last saw it there in October, according to police.

• Omar Melgar, 21, of Jarvis Avenue in Oxon Hill, Md., was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated Nov. 18 on Flanders Road in Riverside, near the Enterprise Zone Drive.

Mr. Melgar was observed traveling at a high rate of speed and failing to stay in his lane. Once pulled over, police said he had a smell of alcohol on his breath and glassy eyes. He also performed poorly on field tests and failed a breath screen test, police said.

• An auto mechanic working at a site on Old Quogue Road in Riverside allegedly gave a woman $1,000 on two occasions and requested that police help him recoup the money.

The mechanic told police that a woman he knew only as “Sofia” stopped by for him to work on her vehicle. He said she asked him for $1,000 on two occasions and he gave it to her both times. He told police he did so because he had been exchanging text messages with “Sofia” and he didn’t want his wife to find out about his relationship, according to police.

An officer advised him that he would need to go to small claims court to recoup the money as it’s a civil case. The man also was asked to call police when “Sofia” is with him, if needed, according to police.

Southampton Blotter: Woman reports $300 sunglasses stolen from car

Gamaliel Hernandez, 30, of Riverhead was arrested last Tuesday around 7:29 p.m. for third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and for an equipment violation caused by inadequate license plate lamps. Police observed Mr. Hernandez towing a trailer north on Route 104, north of CR 31. The trailer did not have functioning plate lamps, prompting a traffic stop. During the stop, an officer determined that Mr. Hernandez had a revoked driver’s license privilege. He was arrested near Quogue Riverhead Road in Flanders.

• A Riverhead woman called Southampton police last Monday around 8:12 a.m. to report a case of petit larceny. The woman told police that between 1 and 2 a.m. a man walked onto the driveway of her Goodridge Avenue home and stole a pair of black Michael Kors sunglasses, valued at $300, from her vehicle.

Southampton Blotter: Hampton Bays man arrested after crash in Flanders

Jenny Noemi Fajardo Alvarracin, 20, of Hampton Bays was arrested on a host of charges Sunday around 5:34 p.m.

Police received a call about a motor vehicle accident on Maple Avenue in Flanders, with the caller stating that the driver of the vehicle had fled the scene prior to police arrival. Police canvassed the area and were able to locate Ms. Fajardo Alvarracin. They reported witnessing multiple vehicle and traffic infractions.

The charges included moving unsafely from a lane; leaving the scene of an accident with property damage; illegally signaling while less than 100 feet from a turn; unsafely turning or failing to signal; operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content of .08%, her first such offense; and driving while intoxicated, also her first such offense.

The arrest took place near Long Neck Boulevard  and Flanders Road in Flanders.

• Michele Ann Kaplan, 31, of Oceanside was arrested last Wednesday around 2:52 p.m. for possessing a quantity of crack cocaine. She was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree. Ms. Kaplan was arrested near Old Quogue Road and Pine Street in Riverside.

• Lindsay Diane Begg, 32, of Calverton was arrested Saturday around 9:12 a.m. and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree. She was also issued a uniform traffic ticket for operating a vehicle with a suspended license. Ms. Begg had been involved in a two-vehicle crash with no reported injuries when police determined her license had been suspended for a prior insurance lapse on Sept. 3. She was arrested near the traffic circle by Peconic Avenue in Riverside.

• Damian A. Guinzo, 42, of Flanders was arrested Saturday around 8:30 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle without a license, for an equipment violation involving his vehicle’s exhaust system and for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree. Mr. Guinzo was initially stopped near Ponquogue Avenue and Good Ground Road in Hampton Bays for a vehicle and traffic violation when an investigation revealed that his privilege to operate a motor vehicle in New York State had been revoked. He was issued a uniform traffic ticket.

Southampton Blotter: Flanders man caught driving with revoked license arrested

Nicholas Fisher, 34, of Flanders was charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and making an illegal U-turn on Jan. 6 at 4 a.m. He was stopped for a traffic infraction on Vail Avenue and Pine Street in Riverside and was found to have a revoked license due to a previous driving while impaired conviction, according to Southampton Town police. 

• Peter Mihalitsianos, 56, of Riverhead was charged by Southampton Town police with speeding, an equipment violation and driving with a suspended registration Jan. 7 at 10:50 a.m. on Flanders Road near Red Creek Road. Police said he was going 71 mph in a 55 mph zone while heading south on Flanders Road in Flanders.

He also had a cracked windshield and his license had been suspended Jan. 6, 2020, police said.

Southampton Blotter: Riverside man arrested with crack pipe

Eddie Lee Buckley, 64, of Riverside was arrested last Monday around 2:13 p.m. for using crack cocaine, according to Southampton Town police.

Mr. Buckley was found on private property with another individual near Old Quogue Road in Riverside, when he threw a crack pipe on the ground, according to police. He was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. A 31-year-old Riverside woman was also charged with a loitering violation.

• Bradley Stephen Gluck, 58, of Southampton was arrested last Wednesday around 7:26 a.m. for driving while intoxicated by drugs. Police said Mr. Gluck stopped behind a school bus picking up passengers, appeared to be asleep at the wheel in the travel portion of the roadway and was awakened by several honking vehicles. He allegedly accelerated and was observed traveling 65 mph in a 40 mph zone in Riverside. 

Police followed Mr. Gluck and attempted to pull him over, but he did not stop as directed. He eventually stopped at a red light and was verbally directed to pull off to the side of the road. Police said he appeared to be in a stupor. Mr. Gluck was charged with operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor.

• Rashawn Lamb, 34, of Riverside was arrested last Wednesday around 6:46 p.m. for intentionally interfering with a reporting sergeant’s investigation into narcotics sales, according to police. Police said Mr. Lamb physically resisted when officers attempted to arrest him near Old Quogue Road and Pine Street in Riverside. He was charged with second-degree obstructing governmental administration in the second degree and resisting arrest, both misdemeanors.

• Marcos Ochoabonilla, 34, of Southampton was arrested last Wednesday around 8:40 p.m. for multiple motor vehicle-related offenses determined after a motor vehicle accident. A caller reported that he was in the left lane of the Peconic Avenue traffic circle in Riverside, and Mr. Ochoabonilla was in the right lane driving alongside him. Both drivers confirmed that the caller entered the circle first, but the caller said Mr. Ochoabonilla drove into the passenger side of his vehicle and sides–wiped him. Mr. Ochoabonilla, meanwhile, said he was sideswiped by the caller. He was charged with having a vehicle not equipped with an interlock device, aggravated unlicensed operation and driving without a license.

• Joseph Charnews, 30, of Southold was arrested last Thursday around 4:23 p.m. for operating a motor vehicle without an inspection certificate, alcohol-related aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and for not operating his vehicle with a court-ordered interlock device. He was pulled over near exit 64 on Route 27 in East Quogue for an expired inspection, and police also found that his license was suspended. 

• Cristobal Garcia, 61, of East Hampton was arrested last Friday around 11:54 a.m. for operating a motor vehicle without a license and with a suspended registration. Mr. Garcia was traveling northbound on Flanders Road in Flanders when he was pulled over. 

• Wilfredo Torres, 59, of Riverside was arrested Saturday around 8:56 a.m. after the police determined that he was operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration. He was traveling southeast on Flanders Road in Flanders and charged with a violation for the suspended registration, operating a motor vehicle without insurance and stopping, standing or parking on the highway.

• Christopher Cornelius Taylor, 49, of Calverton was arrested Sunday around 4:46 a.m. for failing to use a designated lane, possession of a controlled substance in a non-original container and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree. Mr. Taylor was also charged with an equipment violation involving obstructed vision, resisting arrest and for unlawful possession of marijuana.

Southampton Blotter: Flanders man caught driving with 18 license suspensions

Southampton Town police arrested a Flanders woman for driving with 18 license suspensions in Riverside last Wednesday morning.

According to a police report, Maria Bustillo, 23, was stopped for an expired inspection sticker around 11 a.m. when an officer found she was driving with a license that had been suspended since 2017.

She was charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle along with two violations and her vehicle was impounded at police headquarters, officials said.

• A Flanders Road resident called police last Thursday after he woke up and saw two unknown males going through vehicles in his driveway around 2 a.m.. The caller yelled at them through the window and the suspects fled the area on foot, police said.

• Police were called to a Riverside deli last Wednesday morning after an unknown person stole a cup of coffee and a bagel. Police checked the area using a description of the vehicle but did not locate the suspect.

• An employee at a Flanders convenience store called police last Monday evening to report that an unknown man stole a 12-pack of Corona beer.

Southampton Blotter: Babysitter arrested after child found wandering road

A Riverhead woman was arrested after a child she had been babysitting was found wandering on Riverleigh Avenue unsupervised last Thursday afternoon.

Police received a call around 1:57 p.m. and found the child, who was taken to Southampton police headquarters until her mother was located. Cilida Sutuj-Lopez, 38, told police she was babysitting the child and fell asleep. Ms. Sutuj-Lopez was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, and released on an appearance ticket.

• Southampton Town police arrested a Queens man for driving with a suspended license in Flanders early Sunday morning.

Police said a caller reported that a suspicious vehicle approached him and the driver was requesting “sexual favors” before driving away. The driver, 35 year-old Horacio Serafico, was located near Evergreen Road, where he was found with an open container of alcohol and to be driving without a valid license.

He was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, as well as a vehicle and traffic violation, reports said.

• Felipe Chavajay, 39, of Flanders was arrested and charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle last Thursday in Hampton Bays.

• Police arrested Yesid Lemos, 56, of Riverhead for driving with a suspended vehicle registration in Hampton Bays last Wednesday around 11:38 a.m.

• A Patchogue man was arrested for drunken driving in Riverside last Tuesday afternoon.

Police said Angel Herrera, 41, was stopped for a vehicle and traffic violation on Lake Avenue around 3:42 p.m. and found to be intoxicated.

He was charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, DWI and circumventing a court-ordered interlock device, according to a police report.

• A Flanders man called police last Tuesday evening to report that an unknown person rummaged through two vehicles in his driveway and stole $25 in coins.

The incident happened on Royal Avenue, police said.

• Detectives are investigating a report of an alleged rental scam in Flanders.

Police said a 38-year-old Calverton man reported last Tuesday that he was attempting to rent a home on Wood Road Trail and sent the owner $3,000 via CashApp. Further investigation revealed the people he sent money to had no right to rent the home, but police declined to say if any arrests have been made in connection to the incident.

• Matthew Manzella, 30, of Shinnecock Hills was arrested for driving without a valid license last Monday in Riverside. Police said Mr. Manzella was seen passing several cars in the right turning lane on Flanders Road. He was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and released on an appearance ticket, according to officials.

• Police arrested Welton Taylor, 55, of Southampton for driving with a suspended vehicle registration last Monday around 6:56 p.m.

He was released on a field appearance ticket and is due back in court on Feb. 12, police said.

• Jose Martinez, 22, of Riverhead was arrested for driving with a suspended license on Cobb Road in Water Mill last Monday at 7:56 a.m.

According to police, Mr. Martinez had an outstanding bench warrant from Southampton Village Justice Court. He was arrested and issued a court appearance ticket, police said.

Southampton Blotter: Driver arrested on drug charges after crashing into sign in Northampton

A Flanders man was arrested Saturday evening for driving under the influence of marijuana and alcohol.

Police said Alcides Lopez-Cambara, 40, was stopped for an equipment violation on Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays around 6:22 p.m. when an officer noticed the strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle and the smell of a alcohol on his breath.

He was charged with driving while ability impaired by alcohol and drugs and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, according to a police report.

• Police arrested Julio Gutierrez-Agosto, 25, of Riverside for driving while intoxicated in Flanders following a crash early last Monday morning.

According to a police report, Mr. Gutierrez-Agosto was driving his vehicle on Flanders Road near County Road 105 when he was involved in a one-car crash and witnesses said the occupants fled the scene on foot around 2 a.m.

He was located near his vehicle and told police he had been driving after having a beer. Mr. Gutierrez-Agosto was charged with driving while intoxicated and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, police said.

• A Bellport man was arrested on drug charges after he crashed his vehicle into a street sign in Northampton last Monday around 2:18 a.m.

Police said Jarrett Crump, 40, crashed into a road sign on Speonk-Riverhead Road near the intersection of County Road 51 and further investigation revealed he was in possession of marijuana and a PCP cigarette.

He was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, officials said.

• Frankie Mendoza, 21, of Mastic Beach was arrested for driving with a suspended license in Northampton last Monday.

He was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and released on an appearance ticket, according to police.

Southampton Town police arrested a Manorville man for driving while intoxicated on Pleasure Drive in Flanders Sunday evening.

According to police, Victor Irizarry, 28, was stopped around 6 p.m. for failing to maintain his lane of travel and placed under arrest for suspected intoxication. He later refused a breath test at headquarters, police said.

He was charged with driving while intoxicated and several vehicle and traffic violations, officials said.

• Rebecca Sullivan, 37, of Mastic was arrested for driving with a revoked license in Riverside Saturday around 5:05 p.m.

She was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, and released on an appearance ticket.

• Marco Camey Jocon, 50, of Shirley was arrested for driving with three license suspensions on Lake Avenue in Riverside Saturday around 5:25 p.m.

He was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle along with several violations, officials said.

• Police arrested a Riverhead man for driving without a valid license in Hampton Bays Sunday around 2:44 p.m.

Jevohni Brown, 27, was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and released on an appearance ticket, reports said.

• An unknown man stole a 12-pack of beer from a Flanders Road convenience store around 11 p.m. Friday.

• A 21-year-old Flanders woman reported a social media scam to police last Thursday morning.

The woman said she received a Snapchat message from a friend who told her she could make money by messaging an unknown man who she ultimately sent her bank account, social security and date of birth to. After an initial check for $2,751 cleared, the woman said he sent a second check for $4,751 and her checking account later showed a negative balance of $4,751.

Detectives are investigating and said the woman’s friend’s Snapchat account was hacked, according to a police report. The woman was given several booklets that explain how to prevent identity theft, police said.

• Enrique Moreno, 53, of Riverhead was arrested and charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in Riverside Sunday at approximately 8:51 p.m. Police said he was released on an appearance ticket.

• Southampton police detectives are investigating a report of a burglary at a Riverside residence last Tuesday afternoon.

A 64-year-old caretaker reported that he entered the Dogwood Street residence around 3:15 p.m. to feed the cat when he realized the door was unsecured and the lock had been destroyed. Contents of a bedroom and medicine cabinet were also tossed about, according to a police report, and the homeowner reported that oxycodone medication was stolen.

• A 40-year-old Flanders woman was arrested last week after she was found to be intoxicated during a traffic stop in Riverside.

Police stopped Christine Lennon near Cross River Drive last Monday around 1:15 a.m. and charged her with driving while intoxicated.

• Scott McDowell, 33, of Yaphank was arrested and charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle during a traffic stop near the County Center in Riverside last Monday around 8:45 a.m. He was issued an appearance ticket and released in the field, police said.

• Police arrested Jamie Bergamine, 39, of Shirley on drug charges during a traffic stop on Westhampton Riverhead Road in Riverside last Monday around 8:30 p.m.

According to police, Ms. Bergamine was stopped for a license plate violation when an officer noticed the strong smell of marijauna coming from the vehicle and found marijuana and cocaine inside. She was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, and two violations, according to officials.

Southampton Blotter: Woman charged with resisting arrest

Southampton Town police arrested a 45-year-old Riverhead woman for resisting arrest Saturday morning.

Police were attempting to arrest Nicole Vitagliano for an active arrest warrant on Vail Avenue in Riverside when she tried to prevent an officer from placing her in handcuffs. 

After a brief struggle, police said, she was charged with resisting arrest, a misdemeanor, and issued an appearance ticket.

• A 25-year-old taxi driver from Flanders called Southampton police Saturday evening to report that a male customer he had picked up near the Riverside traffic circle and brought to Hampton Bays fled without paying the $30 fare.

No charges were filed in connection with the incident, which occurred around 9 p.m. The suspect was wearing a red winter jacket and blue jeans when he fled east on Montauk Highway, police said.

• Six inspection certificates were reported stolen from an auto body shop on Riverleigh Avenue Friday around 1:50 p.m.

The owner told police he believes they were stolen sometime between 10 a.m. and noon and police are still searching for a suspect. 

• Tammy Nithnikone, 32, of Westhampton Beach was arrested and charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in Northampton Sunday evening.

Police said she was stopped for a vehicle equipment violation on Old Riverhead Road around 8:30 p.m. and an officer discovered that her license was revoked. 

She was released on an appearance ticket, police said.

• A 46-year-old Riverhead man was arrested for driving without a valid license during a stop at a safety checkpoint in Bridgehampton Saturday around 9 p.m.

Galo Ordonez-Morocho was arrested and charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, issued three summonses and released on an appearance ticket, officials said.

• Jorge Deleon-Hernandez, 23, of Riverhead was arrested for driving without a valid vehicle registration last Monday morning in Flanders.

Police stopped him on Flanders Road at 11:06 a.m. and found that his registration was suspended due to an insurance lapse.

He was charged with driving with a suspended registration and a violation, according to a police report.

Police Blotter: Officers called to store after man reports employee coughed on him

A man wanted a police officer to document an incident in which an employee at Home Depot on Route 58 allegedly coughed on him last Thursday, according to Riverhead Town police.

• Two backpack leaf blowers and a power washer were reported stolen from Lowe’s on Route 58. The value of the stolen items is about $1,377, according to police. 

• An unknown person forged two checks totaling $1,200 from a business on Main Road in Jamesport Monday afternoon, according to police. 

• An all-terrain vehicle was reported stolen from a home on Sound Avenue Monday night, according to police. Additional information was not available.

• A “heavyset” man removed an unknown quantity of merchandise from the Stop & Shop store on Route 58 last Wednesday about 11:40 a.m., according to police.

• An unknown man dumped his personal garbage into a dumpster at Satur Farms on Route 25 in Calverton without permission last Wednesday afternoon, according to police. 

• A tree was removed from the roadway on Fresh Pond Avenue in Calverton Monday afternoon by the Riverhead Highway Department. A tree also was removed from the road on Manor Lane in Jamesport Monday afternoon during a storm, according to police.

• Southampton Town police arrested Nicholas Fisher, 34, of Flanders on charges of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance; aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle; and driving without inspection, insurance or registration following a traffic stop on Seaside Avenue in Hampton Bays. 

He was initially stopped for an expired inspection and operating a vehicle with a suspended registration on April 4 about 7:40 p.m., according to police. 

Further investigation revealed that he was in possession of dextroamphetamine sulfate tablets — a Schedule 2 controlled substance — and was operating with a revoked driver’s license, due to a prior alcohol related incident, according to police. 

• On Friday at 1:42 a.m., an officer responded to an incident on Long Neck Boulevard in Flanders for a report of a criminal mischief in progress with a knife possibly involved, according to police.

The caller told the responding officer that another tenant living in the same house attempted to break down his door with a knife. 

That suspect, Jenis Alvarado, 41, of Flanders was identified by the caller on scene and charged with criminal mischief and intent to damage property, according to police. 

Pictures of the damaged door were taken and statements were taken from both the caller and a witness, police said. 

• A woman called police with regard to missing medication about 6 a.m. last Monday on Old Quogue Road in Riverside, according to police. 

The woman told the responding officer that her narcotics medication has gone missing, but that it had possibly been misplaced. The woman was advised to keep looking for it, and was given a copy of the police report, at the caller’s request.

Blotters: Police investigating several reports of someone rummaging through cars in Aquebogue

Someone removed $20 from an unlocked vehicle on Cove Street in Aquebogue last Wednesday morning. A similar complaint was made a short time later on Shade Tree Lane in Aquebogue, where someone got away with only some loose change, according to police. Several other reports of a person rummaging through unlocked cars in that neighborhood also were received at about the same time. 

• A resident’s Ring camera got video of a man reaching into a vehicle on Newtown Avenue in Riverhead last Thursday morning at 2 a.m. through a partially opened window and then leaving in a silver four-door sedan, police said. Nothing appeared to have been taken, police said. 

• Several unknown juveniles removed more than $1,000 worth of merchandise from the 7-Eleven near the Department of Motor Vehicles on Route 58 early Friday. The case is being investigated, according to police. 

• An Ostrander Avenue resident told police last Wednesday that they were the victim of a phone scam and had sent a $1,000 gift card to an unknown person, according to police. 

• Tarell Holloway, age and address unavailable, was charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, while Stephanie Nash, age and address unavailable, was charged with fourth-degree criminal facilitation Friday afternoon at Home Depot on Route 58. 

• James Nowack, age and address unavailable, was charged with first-degree contempt of court and second-degree harassment Saturday morning at the Riverside Laundry on West Main Street. 

• A loose goat was returned to its owners on Sound Avenue last Wednesday morning, according to police, who made sure the fence was secured before leaving.

• Southampton Town police arrested a 34-year-old man after he threatened a woman with a bat in Flanders last Monday.

Police responded to a residence on Maple Avenue around 1 p.m. after a woman reported that Elias Baquedano Espinoza of Riverhead threatened to kill her while holding a bat in a threatening manner.

He was arrested and charged with third-degree menacing, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both misdemeanors, as well as a marijuana-related violation, police said.

• Quenia Soler Carranza, 39, of Riverhead was arrested for driving with a suspended vehicle registration on County Road 39 in Tuckahoe last Tuesday just before 10 p.m., according to a police report. 

• State police arrested Kevin Aguilar, 27, of Riverside near Phillips Avenue in Riverside early Sunday morning after a motor vehicle accident investigation determined he was in possession of a stolen vehicle.

He was arrested and charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and turned over to Southampton police for an outstanding warrant, officials said. A police report did not contain additional information on the motor vehicle accident.

Blotters: Flanders man arrested after fleeing police, providing false name

A 33-year-old Flanders man was arrested after attempting to flee police during questioning late Saturday.

According to a Southampton Town police report, Miguel Estrada Velasquez was observed parked at the David A. Sarnoff Wildlife Preserve after hours with a “known prostitute” in the front passenger seat of his vehicle. During an investigation, police said he refused to give his name and attempted to drive away. He then gave a false name to officers and became aggressive, refusing to comply with police commands and saying “F— you, I’ll kill you,” to an officer, according to a police report.

Police placed Mr. Velasquez under arrest and while seated in a police vehicle, began spitting on the windows, police said.

He was charged with third-degree criminal tampering, false personation and resisting arrest, all misdemeanors, officials said.

• Southampton Town police arrested a 28-year-old Riverhead man for driving while intoxicated in Riverside early Friday.

According to police, Warren Booker kept driving on Nugent Drive as an officer attempted to stop him for speeding and failing to maintain his lane around 5:15 a.m.

When he did pull over, police found Mr. Booker to be intoxicated and charged him with DWI.

• A Northampton woman called police Friday to report that a canoe was stolen from her lakefront property around 11 a.m.

The woman told police she saw an unknown man using the canoe on Wildwood Lake, who didn’t have permission to.

Police responded and found the canoe was abandoned near the rear of the lake. According to a report, a group of people in the area were questioned about the canoe and one person said they found the canoe washed up and admitted to taking it for a ride, but returned it to the same location.

No charges were filed in connection to the incident, reports said.

• Police arrested a Brooklyn man for driving while intoxicated in Northampton Saturday.

According to a report, Jose Rodaso Rellana, 27, was stopped on Center Drive around 11:30 p.m. for failing to maintain his lane when an officer noticed signs of intoxication. Mr. Rellana reportedly admitted to having “a few beers” before driving and was charged with driving while intoxicated, reports said.

• Someone broke a window on a car parked outside GoHealth Urgent Care on Route 58 last Wednesday afternoon and stole a handbag valued at $500, according to Riverhead Town police. 

• A cellphone valued at $400 was reported stolen from a woman at Marshall’s on Route 58 Wednesday afternoon. 

• Cameron Gilbert, 36, of Riverhead was charged with driving while ability impaired and other traffic violations Saturday night on Oakland Drive South in Riverhead. 

• A Riverhead woman told police Friday afternoon that someone used her personal information to apply for unemployment insurance, according to police.

• An unknown amount of merchandise was reported stolen by two men from the Columbia Sportswear store at Tanger Outlets Friday afternoon. 

• Someone stole a wallet Sunday at the Amazing 88 Cent store on Route 58. Police said theft of a wallet is considered grand larceny. 

• A man left Cliff’s Rendezvous on East Main Street Sunday night without paying for $30 worth of drinks, according to police.

Blotters: Cars reportedly vandalized on Osborn Avenue

Riverhead Town police responded to two reports of cars being vandalized at about the same time and location Tuesday. 

Three windows were damaged by an unknown person on Osborn Avenue in Riverhead early Tuesday morning, according to police, who said the estimated value of the damage is $500. 

Three tires were reported damaged on a different car at the same location shortly afterward. The estimated value of the damage to the tires is about $250, according to police.

• Four women stole $415 worth of toys and children’s clothing from Target on Route 58, according to police. The theft took place Monday at about 8 p.m., according to police. 

• Nelson Fuentes-Flores, 29, address unavailable, was charged with driving while intoxicated last Tuesday afternoon on Sound Avenue in Northville.

• Southampton Town police arrested a 22-year-old Baiting Hollow man on boating while intoxicated charges Saturday evening.

According to police, Mateusz Pieta was operating a wave runner in the bay in East Quogue around 10 p.m. when he was stopped by bay constables and found to be intoxicated.

He reportedly gave officers a fake name in an attempt to hide his active probation status, reports said.

He was charged with operating a vessel while ability impaired by alcohol and second-degree criminal impersonation, a misdemeanor. The wave runner was impounded.

• A Mattituck woman was arrested for driving while intoxicated in Flanders Sunday.

Police stopped Sharlie Marino, 33, for swerving on Pleasure Drive around 11:50 p.m. and an officer noticed signs of intoxication.

Ms. Marino allegedly told police she had consumed three drinks at a friend’s house. She was arrested for DWI, processed at police headquarters and later released on an appearance ticket.

• Hayden Dixon, 28, of Riverhead was arrested for driving with a suspended license in Tuckahoe Sunday around midnight.

He was charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and was released on an appearance ticket, officials said.

• A Westhampton man was arrested on drug charges Sunday during a traffic stop on Cross River Drive in Flanders.

According to police, Hector Ortiz Milian, 22, was stopped around 8:30 p.m. and his vehicle was searched after an officer smelled marijuana. 

Police reportedly found a container of edible marijuana gummy bears in the vehicle and Mr. Ortiz Milian was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, taken to police headquarters for processing and released for a later court date.

Blotters: Multiple reports of people being scammed out of money

A number of people reported being scammed out of large amounts of money over the past week, according to Riverhead Town police.

• A Jamesport resident told police last Wednesday afternoon that an unknown person had opened a fictitious Bank of America account in his name and charged $9,911 in purchases to it, according to police.

• A Riverhead woman told police she was scammed out of $505 Monday morning. The case has been turned over to the detective division. Additional information was not available.

Another Riverhead resident reported being scammed out of $1,000 in MoneyPak Gift cards about an hour later, according to police.

• An Aquebogue woman told police Saturday morning that an unknown person removed about $700 from her Capital One bank account, according to police.

• An iPhone XR valued at $1,500 was reported stolen from a home on Main Road in Jamesport Friday night, according to police. Additional information was not available.

• Two iPhone XS’s were stolen by an unknown man Saturday afternoon at I Fix Screens on Route 58, according to police, who said the combined value of the two phones was $650.

• Christian McShea, 44, address unavailable, was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property last Tuesday night at police headquarters. Additional information was not available.

• William Datkun and John D’Alession were both charged with grand larceny Friday night at Home Depot on Route 58. Additional information was not available.

• Gustavo Leon-Galvan, age and address unavailable, was charged with driving while intoxicated early Saturday morning on Center Drive South in Riverside. Additional information was not available.

• A Flanders man was arrested for DWI after an unknown caller reported an erratic vehicle along Flanders Road Sunday around 7:30 p.m., according to Southampton Town police.

The driver, Segundo Neira Bernal, 52, was found to be intoxicated and charged with driving while intoxicated, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and several violations.

Police said his license had been revoked in 2009 for a previous DWI charge and in 2008 for refusing to submit to a chemical test.

• A 69-year-old Riverside man called police Saturday afternoon to report that an unknown person opened a Verizon account is his name. Detectives are investigating a $1,458 bill the man reported to be fraudulent, reports said.

• Windows on two vehicles on Maple Avenue in Flanders were damaged over the weekend.

The damage was discovered Sunday around noon and repairs were estimated to cost $2,000.

• Police arrested a Medford man on drug charges in Riverside early Sunday.

According to a police report, Peter Desfosses, 50, was seen in the parking lot of the Budget Host Hotel shortly before 2 a.m. and found to be in possession of crack cocaine, a THC vape pen and cartridge and multiple crack pipes during a subsequent search of his vehicle.

He was charged with two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and transported to headquarters for processing.

• A Huntington Station man was arrested for DWI in Flanders Saturday.

Alejandro Zavala-Castillo, 52, was stopped near Long Neck Boulevard on Flanders Road for failing to maintain his lane when an officer noticed signs of intoxication.

The man reportedly told police he had four beers at a friends house in Hampton Bays earlier that evening.

He was arrested for driving while intoxicated and transported to police headquarters, where he was held for arraignment, police said.

• Police arrested Keith McClees, 62, of Quogue on a drug charge following a traffic stop in Northampton last Tuesday.

According to police, Mr. McClees was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped for a traffic violation around 5:45 p.m. and found to be in possession of a glass pipe and crack cocaine that was recovered from the front side door pocket.

He was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and released on an appearance ticket, officials said.

The driver of the vehicle, Eddie Buckley, 65, of Riverhead was arrested for driving with a revoked license. He was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and also released on an appearance ticket.

• Southampton Town police arrested a Riverhead man on drug charges last Wednesday afternoon.

According to police, Cameron Gilbert, 36, was stopped after he was seen selling marijuana to someone on Peconic Avenue in Riverside around 4:30 p.m. and found to be in possession of marijuana and crack cocaine for the purpose of sale.

He was charged with two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and fifth-degree criminal sale of marijuana, which are all misdemeanors.

• Mynor Hernandez Manuel, 22, of Flanders was arrested for driving without a license following a traffic stop in East Quogue Friday night.

Police released Mr. Manuel on an appearance ticket, reports said.
